How did you two meet? Tell us your story.
Phillip and I met at a mututal friends going-away party. We spent the following week emailing back and forth getting to know one another a little better before Philipp asked me to go canoeing with him. We spent the entire day at Algonquin Park paddling around, picnicking and swimming. It was the perfect first date. It’s only fitting how our engagement shoot included us in a canoe!
On the proposal:
In April 2012, we were in Newfoundland visiting my family, and I had come down with a bad head cold. The entire week, Philipp was trying to get me out for a hike, but I wasn’t having anything to do with it. Finally, on our last night, we took a drive up to Signal Hill in St. John’s where Philipp proposed overlooking the ice floes in the harbour. We ended the evening celebrating with great friends at one of our favorite restaurants. It ended up being one of the most memorable visits back home in our lives.
From Anne-Marie (photographer):
When I first met Stephanie and Philipp I knew I would love photographing them. They are kind and thoughtful, that much is obvious, plus with Stephanie being from Newfoundland I knew she was great people. Their wedding is taking place at Stephanie’s family cottage and will be a small wedding with their closest family and friends. I thought it would be fun to include a canoe in their engagement sessin but had no idea that they went canoeing on their first date! Pretty perfect I’d say. I can’t wait to photograph these two at their wedding in August in Ontario cottage country.
