How did you two meet? Tell us your story.
We met December 7, 2012 at a dueling piano bar. The ironic thing about us meeting in Oklahoma City is that both Cody and I were not living there. I was living in Sherman, Texas and he was living back home in Enid, Oklahoma. We both had been visiting friends from college. I’m not really the ‘going out’ type of girl but I decided might as well go meet up with old friends since it had been awhile. Cody came up to me asking all the typical questions (where do you live, what do you do, do you want a drink…etc.) and well needless to say I could hardly hear him. Anyone who knows me knows that I do not talk very loud I have a soft voice so it was really hard for me to talk loud. I thought he was cute, but wasn’t thinking much about it because I live far away. When we were about the leave when Cody said “here let me give you MY number and if you want to talk just text or call me.” Immediately, I thought to myself “where has chivalry gone? why do guys expect girls to initiate the conversation.” Later that night I ended up texting Cody and our relationship grew from then on. Cody states that the whole ‘let me give you my number’ was smart of him. He says he did not want me to feel like I HAD to give him my number and if I was interested then I would initiate the conversation… guess he was right.
What do you love most about each other?
I (Krystal) love the fact that Cody is so genuine and funny. He is truly one of a kind. He is so full of life and his smile is one that is contagious. You can’t be in a room with Cody and not be laughing or smiling. I am so thankful to spend my life hand in hand with such an amazing and Godly man.
I (Cody) love that Krystal is so easy to trust and I can act as goofy as I want to when I am around her!
What have you learned over your year of marriage?
I think its safe to say that we both have learned that you never know what the future holds. We never would have thought a month after we got married that Cody would interview for a job in Overland Park, Kansas to become a State Farm agent. Here we are, six months into this incredible marriage with two new jobs and moving to a completely new state. We will be moving to Overland Park, Kansas soon. We are both extremely excited yet anxious at the same time. We know that our faith will carry us through all of this and feel so humbled to have this opportunity. We are excited to be close to family and feel at ease to know where we will permanently live. Our plans are to get involved in the community and make a difference in others’ lives.”
