There’s something so chic and timeless about an all black and white engagement session so of course we absolutely adored this engagement session from White Ash Photography when we saw it in our inbox and knew we had to share it with you. So much glamour, these two look so madly in love. We are thrilled to have the work of this talented Australian photographer on Beloved Darling today.

We asked:

How did you two meet? Tell us your story.

Our story began in the library at the University we were attending.  I’m not sure what I was doing there, being the artist who rarely studied, but he was “actually” studying being the pre-med driven student that he was.  It was love at first sight!

What do you love most about each other?

We love how similar we are in our personalities but how different our likes and professions are.  Landon is in medical school soon to be a doctor and I’m a photographer and artist, we couldn’t be in more opposite fields of interest.  Even though we’re both diverse in what we do, we both have a love and respect for each others interests and passions, we love how dynamic our relationship is.

What have you learned in your years of marriage?

We’ve learned that it’s important to not fall out of love, it’s something you always need to work at.  We like to continually go on dates and do special or silly things for each other.  We’ve also learned sacrifice and compromise is also a big part of a healthy relationship, we’re always doing our best to communicate and be open with each other.

From the photographer, Brian Evans.

“What do you do when you are asked to photograph a pair of photographers you really admire? First you have a small panic attack. Once you move past panic, you feel a sense of honor, which cannot be described. In this case the photographers, Sammy and Natalia Cosa, happen to be the amazing husband and wife team who captured our wedding day! Since our wedding, Sammy has taken me under his wing and become a mentor and great friend. Working with him has been awesome… he and his family are truly inspirational.

Sammy and Natalia have two beautiful daughter snamed Saylah and Audrey (at the time of the photo shoot, Audrey had not yet been born). They wanted the session to be a “day in the life” of their growing family. To truly represent their family, they also wanted it centered on their favorite part of the day… breakfast.

The Cosas do breakfast right! Natalia is a barista master and makes one of the best lattes I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. Sammy makes eggs like nobody’s business, and Saylah is a pancake mixing champ. The life of a photographer can be a bit hectic at times, but it’s great to see a family take the time to enjoy each other’s company around the kitchen table. The rest of the morning was spent following this beautiful family around their home capturing the fun and love they share. Saylah has one of those smiles and laughs that lights up a room, which made my job easy and entertaining. They will soon welcome their new addition into this world and I am beyond happy for them. Photographing this family was an amazing way to spend the morning and I thank them very much for the opportunity.”

We asked the Cosas:

What’s your best family memory?

Welcoming our 2 beautiful daughters into the world. Nothing compares.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a family?

Spend time with sand in our toes at the beach and going to local cafes – trying to enjoy warm lattes while also trying to make sure our daughters aren’t getting into trouble!

What is your favorite family tradition?

Thursday Beach Days and Saturday morning breakfasts in Downtown Fullerton.

What’s the best thing about your family?

That there is never a dull moment. Both our daughters are at such unique stages in their lives and we are enjoying every second!

What do you think makes a happy family?

TIME. Patience. And most of all: LOVE.

What three words best describe your family?

Beach Bums. Lovers. Fun!

We asked:

What have you learned over your years of marriage?

We learned to rise above all the negatives and focus on positives especially when we hit rock bottom.  Also one of the key thing in a relationship is making each other laugh, all the time!

What do you love most about each other?

Hmmm I love how Lee is good with our kids and he loves (apparently) my kindness & love for others.

What advice do you have for others who are planning their vow renewal?

Just don’t go crazy on spending so much money on the day. It’s a day to renew your vow, to mark the importance of your marriage/relationship so make sure the focus is exactly on that. i’m proud of how our day went, it was simple and we didn’t spend a lot of money for it.

What was your most memorable moment from your vow renewal?

When we were told that we can’t register our marriage as we were already officially married so can have a vow renewal instead and that our guests had to wait for over an hour not knowing what was happening haha! THAT was memorable, for me at least!
