From the photographer:
Cassie wanted to surprise Kyle for their 10 year wedding anniversary by surprising him with a vow renewal. She styled everything and ordered a cake, decorations, table and chairs, etc. She recited her vows and washed his feet afterwards to show her commitment to him. They danced to their wedding song and cut the cake and we were able to grab some portraits of them by the water. At the end of the shoot, their 5 kids came and surprised them and I was able to grab some family shots as well. It was too beautiful for words!
What have you learned over your years of marriage?
Cassie: Ten years of marriage has taught me the importance of purposeful tending to my relationship with my spouse. Marriage will not grow happenstance. It takes priority, time, patience, grace, work, pain, trust, commitment, and a depth of love that is unwavering.
Kyle: That marriage is one of the greatest adventure one can every partake in. I have learned the depth of love, the vastness of grace, and the everlasting meaning of devotion.
What do you love most about each other?
Cassie: My husband gives his entire self to his family. He affirms his love for me both with his words and actions. He serves me and leads me at the same time. I feel safe, protected, and valued by him.
Kyle: I love how Cassie loves our family and people. I have never met a more selfless person in my entire life. I love how she makes me laugh and sharing peculiar moments with one another. I love how she inspires me to move mountains and take on my greatest challenges with confidence that can only come from someone who has known love.
What advice do you have for others who are planning their vow renewal?
Cassie: My advice is to celebrate the past and dream for the future. Our wedding vows were spoken with faith but now we are able to renew those vows ten years later, spoken now with a time tested faith. Celebrate the journey that tested the faith. Dream about the coming years and what they have in hold. Speak your heart… those sweet truths you feel in your heart but the daily routine muffles them.
Kyle: Since I had no idea it was coming and it was complete shock to me, all I can say is to soak it up and be you. Cassie captured the essence of who we are as a couple and it felt natural and familiar; bringing back fond memories of years gone by and painting a beautiful picture of the years that are ahead.
What was your most memorable moment about your vow renewal?
Cassie: The moment I remember most is the words of my vows. With tears streaming down my face I laid bare my heart. Words that I have always felt but have rarely spoken aloud. It was a moment that I will always be grateful for.
Kyle: The moment I saw her standing under a tree looking more beautiful than even the day we first were married. When I saw her from afar I saw the one whom holds my entire heart and has taken such good care of it for all of these years.
