What’s your best family memory?
Our families are spread out across California and over the World. The photos we take of the girls are so important for the grandparents to ‘see’ them grow up even if they live far away. But the best family memories had to be the visits to each of the grandparents and great-grandparent when we introduced the babies in person for the first time. Seeing the resemblances on the relatives’ faces and hearing stories about the family and ourselves were incredible memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives, the love for the babies and among each other during those meetings broached any language, cultural or generational barriers we may have had.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a family?
We are not fancy cooks but we all like to be in the kitchen. Maddie is a great helper even though she likes to taste test all the ingredients while we cook! We like to make bread, stir-fry, pizza and pasta. The favorites of the family though have to be cupcake with sprinkles and chocolate and peanut butter chip cookies.
What is your favorite family tradition?
Jeff grew up going to Sunday dinners at Nana’s and has fond memories playing with his cousins. He is keeping up with that tradition by making his Nono’s pasta sauce on Sunday evenings. Since our siblings are not nearby, we instead get together with other friends with young kids.
What’s the best thing about your family?
We are celebrating 10-year wedding anniversary next year, and we are nervous yet thankful to begin the next phase of our relationship as parents of two beautiful girls. We each grew up with a sibling of the same gender, and we think that bond they have as sisters will be indescribable. We are so amazed to see life through the eyes of our daughters and are so excited to teach and show them the world. We are grateful to be blessed with two active, precocious, healthy, happy girls living in this fantastic area with so much to offer.
What do you think makes a happy family?
Flexibility and communications are important; and so are full tummies.
What three words best describe your family?
Laughter, sports, multicultural.
