We asked them:
How did you meet? Tell us your story!
We both grew up on Mercer Island, which is a relatively small community – you are bound to know everyone in your graduating class by the time you enter middle school. We shared a lot of mutual friends over the years, but didn’t actually start hanging out until we shared classes together our junior year of high school. We also worked together at our local grocery store. One day, Tyler’s aunt (who also worked at the store) pulled me aside and asked what I thought of Tyler. I said he was a very sweet guy and a hard worker (secretly I had a crush on him, though). His aunt told me Tyler was going to ask someone out, and asked if I knew who it was. I said I didn’t, which is when she informed me that it was me! I was totally shocked, but excited! We ended up going to a movie that weekend and he had put a whole assortment of candies, sodas and popcorn in the car for us to sneak in to the theater. It was very cute. The date was going well, but on the car ride home, I got sick – I didn’t know it until it happened, but I had a 24-hour flu bug and totally puked all over myself! I was mortified because this was my first date ever, not to mention a date with my crush! Anyway, I wasn’t at school the next day because I was sick with the flu. And when I returned, he wasn’t there because he’d gotten sick with the flu, too. Now we can look back and laugh at the whole situation, but it was an embarassing first impression!
Tell us how Tyler proposed to you?
Tyler proposed at the Ferris Wheel. I knew we were going down to ride it, but thought we were meeting up with his brother and sister-in-law. When we got there, he said they were no longer joining us and showed me he had VIP tickets. I knew something was up because he usually doesn’t plan too far in advance, but we got to cut the line and go in the VIP gondola. Once we reached the top, with an amazing view of Seattle, he got down on a knee and proposed in the gondola! After, we went to have dinner at The Edgewater’s Six Seven resturant to celebrate. Then, as we left, a white hummer-limo picked us up! And inside the limo were his brother and sister-in-law and my best friend and her husband. We celebrated with them, stopped by my parents house to share the news, took lots of pictures and then all stayed at the Bellevue Club hotel.
What was your favorite memory from the proposal?
Rochelle: I think the fondest memory of the proposal I have is simply that Tyler planned a night that we were able to enjoy with our best friends and family. I felt very special and think he did a great job! He was so thoughtful and made sure every detail was perfect. Acutally, I think my best memory is that he was so excited, that the next day we went to pick out his wedding band!
Tyler: My favorite memory from the proposal was seeing the look on Rochelle’s face when i got down on one knee and popped the question.
What do you love most about each other?
Rochelle: I love that Tyler is so dedicated to his family, friends and work. He is passionate about life; a total a optimist and enjoys continually learning about thinks he’s curious about. I love that he can make me laugh so easily and always is looking to make other smile, too.
Tyler: I love how Rochelle always makes me happy and her number one priority everyday.
