How did you guys meet? Tell us your story!
Trey and I met a couple of times in High School while out with friends. We went to different schools but I was friends with girls from his school too. We never really talked much, just once at a party during college. There was something different about talking with him though. He started working where I worked while we were both 19, George’s Bar in Waco, TX. I was always really excited if we got scheduled together and flirting/being around him, as well as him touching me while he walked by, would always give me butterflies. After a while, he asked me out. Our first date was to the Dallas Aquarium. We have a different story though. We broke up for 3 years but what is meant to be will be. I knew we were always meant to be but didn’t know if it was going to happen in the end. Our time apart was truly meant for us to grow as individuals so that we could come back together as a stronger team. When that day came, it was as if we never missed a beat. We learned from our breakup, our time apart and from our true love for one another. I couldn’t have picked a better person to be loved by and to love unconditionally.
Tell us about your proposal:
Trey told me he had a work function at the Dallas Aquarium a couple of weeks before he proposed. The night of the function, I was getting ready and he called and said they cancelled it because the team hadn’t filed yet so they were pushing it back a week and moving it somewhere else since the Aquarium had another event the next week. He said that we were still going to get ready and go to dinner with the team but wouldn’t be going to the Aquarium anymore. He told me that he has to go by the Aquarium and sign some papers for canceling the event. I semi-thought that this all sounded fishy since that’s where we had our first date and had an assumption that he may be proposing but put it out of my mind because I didn’t want to be the crazy girl thinking he’s going to propose and he doesn’t, lol. He picks me up ‘after work’ (he really was at his friend’s preparing himself) amped! He had a lot of nervous but positive energy which also led me to believe that he was going to propose. We got to the aquarium and I expected to see our parents’ cars or cars that I recognize since I really thought this was it. I didn’t see any. Then I knew he wasn’t going to propose and this is just what he said it was. We got to the Aquarium and was let in by Kyle through the back door. We followed him to the main room with the waterfall where I went to look at the scenery and Kyle told us he was going to go get the papers. I could feel Trey’s energy get even more nervous and in that moment, I knew, without even looking at him. He wrapped his arms around me and told me how much he loved me, that he made the best decision of his life by calling me and that he wants to continue to make great decisions. He then pulled the most perfect ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I looked like a beauty queen that just won the pageant by the way I reacted, cried and told him yes!
What is your favorite memory from the proposal?
After the proposal, we went to eat and when I walked in, my family and his family were all there waiting to surprise me. It was the best part since it was a total surprise and that we got to share it with them. BUT the BEST part was obviously when he asked me to be his wife.

Marc and I both worked for the same company but never really got close while working together. We were both dating other people and would just see each other in the office every now and then. It wasn’t until a few months after I left the company that Marc contacted me and we actually started talking. We finally went out on our first date October 26, 2009 to a local pub. Marc and I were both not looking for something serious. All though we spent almost all of our time together we never made it official until August 13, 2010.
Tell us about your proposal.
Marc and I had planned to visit Marc’s Grandma in Germany January of 2014.
Months leading up to our trip all of our friends kept telling me that Marc was going to propose when we were in Europe!!! No one actually knew for sure but they were just so excited and were all so hopeful. Since so many people were expecting it and Marc knew what they were saying I assumed that he would not be proposing on our trip. Especially since our trip was costing us so much money. Little did I know he had other plans.
A week into our trip Marc agreed to take me to Paris for a couple nights since it was only a 5 hour drive from his Grandma’s house. Marc and I arrived in Paris late afternoon onJanuary 6th, because of the rain we quickly purchased our tickets for a On Off Bus tour that would take us around Paris the 2 days that we were there. Since we arrived so late there was only enough time for us to ride the bus one trip around Paris, the trip ended at Trocadero Square which happened to be the stop closest to our hotel and also the most beautiful looking point for the Eiffel Tower <3 Marc and I soon found out that at certain times of the night white lights started twinkling all over the Eiffel Tower for just a short time. After we witnessed the twinkling of the lights we had a nice dinner in Trocadero square and then Marc and I called it a night since we had a big day of touring the next day.
The next morning came about and we were on our way to explore Paris! Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower and from their we rode the On Off Bus and got off at all of the exciting Paris Landmarks. It was very windy, cold and rainy for most of the day. We experienced The Louvre, The Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame de Paris, Champs-Elysees and even Ponts des Arts were we sealed our love with a lock on the bridge. Marc and I finally made our way back to hotel for around 6 with the plan to get changed and go out for dinner. Since the day was so long and included a lot of walking I suggested to Marc that we just order room service. Marc not being the adventurous type and always down for lazy dinner brought up that it was our last night in Paris and I would regret not going out one last time. So, exhausted as we were we ventured out onto the streets of Paris. Marc suggested that we go back to Trocadero Square where we started the night before and look for a restaurant around there. Just as we arrived (and now looking back realizing it was8 o’clock on the dot) the Eiffel Tower started twinkling. I of course had to take pictures and then it was soon over and we made our way to look for a nice restaurant. As we were walking away from the Eiffel Tower Marc suggested we make our way back since he didn’t want to go to far into the “Out Skirts of Paris”. I found it kind of strange but my feet were getting sore so I did not mind. We got back to Trocadero around 8:20pm and Marc suggested that we wait for the Eiffel Tower to light up again, that way we could get one last picture in front of the Eiffel Tower. Marc and I did not know what the schedule of the lights were so we assumed it was every half hour. So I figured I could wait 10 minutes. We had fun, Marc took pictures of me pinching the top of the Eiffel Tower. We were keeping busy since there was really no where to sit and it was pretty windy. 8:35pm rolled around and the Eiffel Tower did not light up, I some what growled and asked if he was going to make me wait 25 more minutes and he once again said “Its our last night in Paris” . 9pm on the dot the Eiffel Tower lit up! Marc pulled out his iPhone and we took a couple selfies with the Eiffel Tower in the back ground, he then asked these two girls walking past if they could take a picture of us. They took multiple photos (clearly knowing that one photo is never enough), Marc then turned toward me and asked me for a kiss, as he kissed me he reached into his sweater pocket and got down on one knee. I first heard the girls taking the photo squeal and then my heart stopped, I couldn’t believe this was actually happening, I started wondering if this was real life, did he just get on one knee and finally how he kept it a secret from me all this time?!? I was so caught up in the moment and suddenly I heard Marc say, “Please!?!” I realized then that I had left Marc in suspense! I of course said YES!!! He then put the ring on my finger and jumped up to give me a kiss. He then said he choose this spot because he knew I would want a photo and at that point I asked him to get down on one knee again just to make sure we got a good photo! He jumped up once again and started kissing me, the young girls then gave Marc his iPhone back and ran off without saying a word. Marc and I both not knowing where to go next headed back to our hotel. The whole way back I kept looking back and forth from Marc and then to my ring. I for one could not believe he kept it a secret from me and two was amazed that MY ring was exactly what I had been hinting at for the past year! Whenever I would bring up what type of ring I would want Marc would pretend that he couldn’t hear me or he would say “Ya right!”. To top it all off Marc had the ring specially made for me just the way I had described, “Solitaire Diamond, 6 prongs, dainty band covered in diamonds”. Needless to say the rest of our trip in Europe was amazing! Definitely a trip of a lifetime and one for the record books!!!
What is your favourite memory from the proposal?
How do I choose ONE favourite memory!?!?! How bout…. The whole thing could not have happened if I was a lazy bum and wanted to order room service!
What do you love most about each other?
This may sounds silly but I love Marc’s hugs. He makes me feel so loved with one little hug. No matter how stressed or how upset I am, in that brief moment he makes it all go away.
How did you two meet? Tell us your story.
The two of us met in high school in Seattle. Although we did not go to the same school, we were introduced through mutual friends. We couldn’t believe that we hadn’t met as we had multiple mutual friends and we had SO much in common. All four of our parents went to the same high school and our grandparents belonged to the same country club. We discussed various instances throughout our childhood where we were at the same exact place at the same exact time but were not aware of it! It’s like it was meant to be, and the rest is history.
Describe the proposal.
After almost nine years together, I should have seen it coming… but I had absolutely no clue what was happening until Spencer was down on one knee! It was a casual Wednesday night when Spencer mentioned that he made reservations for dinner at a nice restaurant near our apartment in South Lake Union. After a beautiful and romantic evening at Canlis, I walked into our almost unrecognizable apartment which was elaborately decorated with candles and flowers. Rose pedals lead us from the kitchen into the living room where the pedals formed a huge heart. It was there that I realized what was happening as Spencer dropped to one knee.
What was your favorite memory from your proposal?
Every time we tell the story of our proposal, we laugh out loud. As we took the elevator up to our apartment and Spencer opened the door, I FROZE. I just looked at him in shock after a glimpse into the apartment. Seeing all of the flames from the candles, my first thought was that our apartment was on fire!!! When he saw the worry in my eyes, he assured me everything was OK and lead me inside.
What do you love most about each other?
We work perfectly together. It’s as simple as that. We are a great team and we are so excited to spend the rest of our lives conquering the world together!
How we met:
It wasn’t until about two months into our Discipleship Training School at YWAM in Hawaii that we really noticed each other. We had been in class together nearly every day, but it took a spontaneous dinner with a few of our friends (and Alexa’s mom!) for us to interact long enough to see the “spark”! We communicated on and off while on outreach in Fiji and Spain, and we spent some time together in Portland at the beginning of 2012 after DTS was over. A month later we started a long-distance relationship between Alaska and Oregon which shortly turned into Alaska and Hawaii as Alexa went back to YWAM for a season of 9 months in Kona and Iceland! She then took a leap of faith and moved north to Alaska in the middle of winter so we could spend some time living in the same city and doing “normal” life. Our story is very unique and full of countless plane tickets, care packages, and FaceTime calls, but we wouldn’t change a thing
Describe the proposal:
We were long distance Alaska to Hawaii this past December. It was Saturday morning and I was expecting Eric for a visit in a couple days. Eric had one of my dear roommates get me dresses for a photo shoot. A few hours later Eric surprised me with flowers and told me we had to catch sunset. I was so excited and shocked he was there early! We drove to the beach and as we were walking I noticed tikki torches and a blanket set up on the beach in the distance. On the blanket were pictures representing amazing memories of our two years together and our favorite snack from a meat & cheese shop in Alaska! While enjoying my surprises I noticed a glass bottle sparkling near the water line. We went over to it and inside was a note. It was the most beautiful love note ever of Him expressing his heart and love for me. He then dropped to his knee and asked me to marry him! After, we shared the most perfect first kiss and I admired my gorgeous ring! I told him we needed a newly engaged picture and he said “we have plenty of those!” Turns out he had a friend planted in a nearby tree photographing the entire proposal! We went to the same restaurant where we initially met and noticed our attraction for each other and randomly got seated at the exact same table! A few days later all of our parents surprised us and we shared an incredible time in Hawaii together!
Favorite memory of the proposal:
Alexa: Oh my goodness! The whole thing! Getting to marry the man of my dreams! It really was absolutely perfect for us in every way. I especially loved being in Kona. A place that is so near and dear to both of our hearts!
Eric: It was amazing to surprise Alexa and finally get to ask her to be my wife! I’m so humbled that she said yes.
What do you love most about each other:
She’s a catch! Alexa is the most joyful, warm, expressive person you’ll ever meet. She celebrates everything and loves making the littlest things in life memorable. One of the first things I noticed about Alexa is how she asks fun, random, yet intentional questions whenever she meets someone new. She’s always up for trying new things and we share a love for travel, adventure, and exotic food. Alexa’s creative, compassionate heart has taught me to cherish people and think about more than just getting things checked off my list in the most efficient manner. (I’m an engineer, after all!) She has a big heart and an equally-big appetite for adventure, life, and pursuing all that God has for us. It’s safe to say I found a keeper!
What. A. Stud. Eric is the best adventure buddy and friend. He is brimming full of life and always excited about new experiences, places and foods. He values friendships and family and is so honest and full of integrity in the way he lives his life. I admire this man deeply and love every minute I get to spend with him. Eric is extremely generous and kind and always looks for ways to serve others. He is thoughtful and romantic and loves to bring joy to others. He is so creative and has such a gift of teaching others. He is always making me laugh and loves me so well. I am the most blessed girl in the universe!
How did you guys meet? Tell us your story!
How they met: Elyssa was off at school in her final year studying music, and I had just moved here to Springfield, IL to take a position at a church that happened to be the one Elyssa’s dad pastors at. She came home one weekend, and some mutual friends introduced us at the dinner theatre. After the show we stayed out talking til who knows when. It was awesome. I’ve been her’s ever since!
About the Proposal:
From Elyssa about the engagement: Chase knows that I love surprises. He had been surprising me every date night in the month of June, so June 26th was no different. He took me to a fancy restaurant in downtown Springfield. During dinner he asked if we were at a place in our relationship where we could start talking about rings. I, of course said, “Yes! But I want you to pick it out!” After dinner he took me down the street into business building by the old capitol. He had a friend who worked there let us in after hours. After a series of hallways, doors, and elevators, we came out on the roof just as the sun was setting. His guitar was propped conveniently up against the ledge. We sat down and he asked if he could play a song for me that he just finished writing for me. He sang to me the most perfect song with the sweetest lyrics. Ending the song, he sang, “will you take this ring and let me marry you?,” and pulled out the ring! It is hard to pick a single memory from that night. But if I had to choose, it was really special when, after the proposal, Chase walked me to the edge of the roof and yelled, “She Said Yes!” off the side of the 10 story building, and I realized he had both our families down below to celebrate with us!
From Chase, about the engagement: My favorite moment had to be once I asked her to marry me. She totally freaked! She had no idea it was coming. She was on the ground and then standing up, then on the ground again. The next second she was hugging me, then leaning away in disbelief. Then she looked at me and said, “Will you play it again for me?!”
What do you guys love most about each other?
Elyssa, about their relationship: I love how steadfast Chase is. He is so real. What you see is what you get, and what you get is so beautiful and balanced. When life is crazy, he is the calm; when life is hard, he is the sunshine, bringing a fresh perspective; when life is great, he knows how to have fun. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better man!
Chase, about their relationship: The thing that amazes me the most about Lys is how incredibly selfless she is. She loves to a fault. She is always the first to step out of her way to make others feel cared for. She stays up late at nights writing notes and letters to encourage others around her just because. She would rather comfort someone in need than take care of herself. I’ve never met anyone like her. The most beautiful thing about it is she doesn’t even realize how special she is, or how powerfully she changes the world. She’s great.
